Massimo Bartolini, with Gavin and Yuri Bryars

for two boomboxes and two double basses

Live performance of the music for Massimo Bartolini’s installation at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale composed by Gavin and Yuri Bryars. The pre-recorded music for three early music singers (2 sopranos and contralto) with tuned percussion (bell plates and bowed vibraphone) has been playing constantly in the gardens since April 20, through six boomboxes suspended from trees, and continues there until the end of the Biennale on November 24 2024.

The live concert uses two of these boomboxes (one with the voices, one with the tuned percussion) along with Gavin and Yuri Bryars on double basses. It will take place in the location on the island of Giudecca where the music was originally recorded –
Fabbrica H3, ex chiesa dei Santi Cosma e Damiano
17.00 (this concert will be open to public with registration through the Biennale communication channels)
19.00 (only by invitation – similar to the opening in April)
Duration: 45 minutes each concert.
