For the last five years, in May, I have run a one-week music course at the Fuse Art Camp in the tiny French village of Aulus-les-Bains, high in the French Pyrenees, two hours south of Toulouse, and only 10 kilometres from the Spanish border. About a dozen people come from different parts of the world to work on their ideas and projects. They can be from very different musical backgrounds and I work with them, acting as tutor and adviser for their work. It’s an immensely enjoyable and rich experience for all of us.

For the last two years the course has had to be run online via Zoom for about 5 hours each day and which has involved some extraordinary time zone differences. In 2020 I was in England but had simultaneously participants from Melbourne, Stockholm, Madrid, UK, Los Angeles, New York. In 2021 I was on the West coast of Canada and had students from UK, France, Hong Kong, New York, Spain. This year, however, we are back in the same space, all together.
