Dear Linda,

Thanks for the proof of the article. I think it reads very well and it has benefited from an intelligent and independent eye.

You ask for a short contributor’s note “about 20 words”. The best I can do is as follows:

“Gavin Bryars’ most recent work is a cello concerto written for Julian Lloyd Webber commissioned by Philips Classics. He is currently working on a new opera for English National Opera based on Jules Verne’s Doctor Ox’s Experiment.“

Forgive me not telephoning but, given my habit of saying yes to any project, on February 29th I try to avoid direct contact with women no matter how much I may like or love them for the other 1460 days….
